The 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards will take place August 15, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Kirk Franklin serving as host for the ceremony.

John P. Kee and Kim Person lead all nominees with seven nominations each. Tasha Cobbs Leonard and JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise follow closely behind. The awards recognize excellence across gospel music categories including traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, and urban inspirational.

The event is part of a larger "Stellar Plus Experience" running from August 12 through 15, which includes industry panels, workshops, and networking events for gospel music professionals and fans.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album earlier in 2026 for her studio project TASHA, making her one of the most decorated gospel artists of the year heading into the Stellar ceremony.

The Stellar Gospel Music Awards have recognized gospel music excellence since 1985. The awards are produced by Central City Productions and broadcast nationally. Charlotte was selected as the host city following a competitive bid process.

Kirk Franklin, a multiple Grammy and Stellar Award winner himself, is one of the most recognized figures in gospel music. His hosting duties add star power to an already competitive awards season for the genre.
