AMD Crosses 1 Trillion Dollar Market Cap as AI Chip Demand Drives 10 Percent Price Hike

Advanced Micro Devices crossed a $1 trillion market capitalization on September 21, 2026, becoming one of the few companies in history to reach that threshold. The milestone came after AMD announced a 10 percent price increase across its AI accelerators, consumer GPUs, and chipsets.

Investors read the price hike as a signal that demand for AMD hardware is outpacing supply. Shares climbed approximately 9.95 percent on the day, reaching $615.52. Year-to-date, AMD stock had risen 183.3 percent heading into the milestone.

The company's Q2 2026 results showed revenue of $11.54 billion, a 50.1 percent increase year-over-year. The Data Center segment led growth, surging 107 percent to $6.7 billion. AMD has secured multi-gigawatt GPU commitments from OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic.

CEO Lisa Su said the AI-driven buildout is still in its early stages. Management raised Q3 2026 revenue guidance to approximately $13 billion and projected that Data Center revenue will more than double in 2027.

Analysts note that AMD's trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 211 reflects a valuation priced for continued strong execution. Any slowdown in AI infrastructure spending could put pressure on the stock.

AMD is now ranked as the 16th most valuable company globally by market capitalization.
