Anthropic's Claude chatbot has been updated to support the creation of inline visual content, such as charts, graphs, and diagrams, directly within conversations. These visuals are generated using HTML and SVG and are distinct from image generation.

Claude will use visuals when they better convey an answer than plain text, and can also incorporate real-world data like weather and recipes if web search is enabled. For example, Claude can display current weather conditions and forecasts, and provide formatted recipe cards.

The chatbot can also ask structured questions using interactive multiple-choice inputs. Visual responses and interactive content are now available to all Claude users, though weather and recipe data are currently desktop-only.

This update represents a significant advancement in how AI assistants can communicate information. By incorporating visual elements, Claude can present complex data more clearly through charts and graphs, provide interactive experiences that engage users more effectively, and offer real-time information in visually appealing formats.

The ability to generate visuals on-the-fly means users don't need to switch between different tools or applications to get full answers. Whether analyzing data, planning meals, or checking weather forecasts, Claude can now provide a more complete and visually rich response.

This development is part of a broader trend in AI technology where chatbots are evolving beyond text-only interactions to become more versatile and user-friendly tools.
