Churches across Pine Bluff, Arkansas are hosting a variety of community-focused events this week.
Breath of Life Church at 1313 S. Pine St. Will present its Youth Services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, featuring Kabion Ento, a professional football player and community mentor. Ento graduated from Dollarway High School in 2014, received a football scholarship to East Central Community College in Mississippi where he was named to the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team in 2015. He transferred to the University of Colorado in 2016 and graduated with a sociology degree in 2018. After signing as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers (2019-2021), he joined the Montreal Alouettes in 2023, playing a key role in their 2023 Grey Cup victory. He was named a 2024 CFL East Division All-Star and is a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill and father to daughter A'Kyre Ento.
New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church at 3319 S. Ohio St. Is hosting two significant events. On Saturday from 11 a.m. To 1 p.m., they will present "HYPE Discovery Day: All About STEM" at the Hurricane HYPE Center, featuring free robotics demonstrations by the UAPB Steam Team and free pizza for middle school students. Later that day at 1 p.m., the church will host a Financial Literacy Workshop covering budgeting, credit repair, and student loans, with segmented sessions for all ages. Children aged 5-11 will have activities while youth aged 12 and up will focus on money management. The workshop is hosted by New St. Hurricane Women of Grace.
New United Missionary Baptist Church at 5601 Cheatham St. Will present an Easter program at 11 a.m. On April 5, led by Pastor Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr.
Canaan Christian Center at 7890 Middle Warren Road will host the 2026 Women's Empowerment Conference on April 10 at 7 p.m. (with sessions for men and women) and April 11 from 9 a.m. To noon (women-only sessions). Guest speakers include Jessica Yarbrough, Sheilar Hatton-Bone, and Roslyn Burks-Adams, with psalmists Michelle Johnson and Zetoria Curry. Lunch registration is $40.
