Cru Mobilizes 10,000 Churches for Gospel Outreach During 2026 FIFA World Cup

Evangelism and discipleship ministry Cru has launched a campaign to mobilize 10,000 churches ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament runs across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, drawing millions of fans from around the world.

Cru sees the event as a rare opportunity to reach people from countries where Christian outreach is limited. The ministry is training church volunteers to engage fans at host cities, distribute materials in multiple languages, and connect visitors with local congregations.

The World Cup runs from June through July 2026. Host cities include New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and several others across North America.

Cru has run similar campaigns at previous World Cups. The 2026 edition is the largest in tournament history, with 48 teams competing instead of the traditional 32. That expansion means more matches, more cities, and more potential contacts for outreach teams.

Church leaders interested in joining the campaign can register through Cru's website. The ministry is also partnering with local churches near stadium venues to provide hospitality and follow-up for anyone who makes a faith decision during the tournament.

Christian Today reported on the initiative as one of the more organized faith-based responses to a major sporting event in recent years.
