Earnest Pugh Scores Seventh Career Number One With 'Your Glory 2 C U,' Houston Declares Dr. Earnest Pugh Day
Gospel veteran Dr. Earnest Pugh reached number one on both the Billboard Gospel Airplay and Mediabase charts in September 2026 with 'Your Glory 2 C U,' his seventh career chart-topper. The milestone made him one of only two gospel artists in history to land three number-one singles on both charts in a single calendar year. The City of Houston marked the occasion by declaring September 29 as Dr. Earnest Pugh Day.
Dr. Earnest Pugh has secured his seventh career number-one radio single with "Your Glory 2 C U," which topped both the Billboard Gospel Airplay and Mediabase charts in September 2026.
The achievement places Pugh in rare company. He is now one of only two gospel artists in history, alongside Tamela Mann, to reach three number-one singles on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts within the same calendar year.
"Your Glory 2 C U" is Pugh's 17th career radio single. The worship-centered track climbed steadily through the summer before reaching the top spot in late September.
The City of Houston recognized the milestone with an official proclamation. On behalf of Mayor John Whitmire, District D City Council Member Carolyn Evans-Shabazz declared September 29, 2026, as "Dr. Earnest Pugh Day." The celebration was held at Wesley AME Church in Houston, where local and state officials gathered to honor Pugh's career.
Pugh, known for his five-octave vocal range, has been active in gospel music for more than two decades. He received his first Stellar Gospel Music Award in 2025 for Traditional Male Artist of the Year.
Earlier in 2026, Pugh was honored at the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards in Nashville. His consistent chart presence across multiple formats has made him one of the most durable figures in traditional gospel radio.
