Google Labs has expanded its experimental CC AI agent into a shared household management tool, allowing families of up to six members to coordinate calendars, track tasks, and automate logistics through a single AI-powered system.

The update, announced September 18, builds on the original CC agent that Google launched in late 2025 as a personal productivity assistant. After high user demand for tools that could handle household logistics, Google redesigned the system as a "family command center."

The agent connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Chat. It aggregates information from those sources, including school schedules, sports practices, and bills, into a shared daily briefing called "Your Day Ahead" that is delivered to each family member's inbox each morning.

The system can also pre-fill registration forms and permission slips, generate shopping lists, create meal plans, and calculate commute times using the Google Maps API. It maintains a shared memory of household preferences, such as favorite restaurants and grocery lists, to improve its suggestions over time.

Privacy controls are built around an opt-in framework. Users choose exactly what information to share with the agent, either by manually forwarding content or designating specific email senders, such as schools or sports clubs, for automatic sharing. The agent does not access private primary calendars by default and does not take actions outside the household group without explicit permission.

The system runs on isolated cloud infrastructure powered by Google's Gemini models. Access is currently limited to adults aged 18 and older in the United States with personal Google accounts. Existing CC users are being invited to upgrade, and new users can join a waitlist through Google Labs.
