Google has launched an AI platform called Playground that allows users to create playable video games by typing text descriptions. The tool generates game environments, mechanics, and visuals based on written prompts, without requiring users to write code.

The launch is part of Google's broader push into AI-powered creative tools. The company has been expanding its AI product lineup across multiple categories, including image generation, video creation, and now interactive game development.

Playground is designed for casual users and developers alike. A person with no programming experience can describe a game concept in plain language and receive a working prototype. Developers can use the tool to quickly test game ideas before committing to full production.

Google also released Gemini 4 Argon this week, a frontier AI model currently restricted to cybersecurity defenders. The model is designed to help security researchers identify and patch vulnerabilities faster than traditional methods allow.

The two releases come as Google faces increasing competition in the AI space from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral. OpenAI reported this week that ChatGPT has reached 1.2 billion weekly users and is testing visual ads within its image generation feature. Anthropic launched Claude for Google Workspace, enabling direct AI interaction within Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
