Gospel Industry Coalition Pushes to Break Down Silos Across the Gospel Music Sector
The Gospel Industry Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2024, has emerged in 2026 as a force working to unify the gospel music industry. The GIC aims to reduce the isolated silos that have historically kept artists, labels, and ministries from working together. The organization is gaining traction alongside other industry milestones this year.
The Gospel Industry Coalition (GIC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that launched in 2024, has become a more visible presence in the gospel music world in 2026. Its stated mission is to eliminate the isolated silos that have long kept different parts of the industry from collaborating.
The GIC's growth comes during a year of significant activity across the gospel sector. Major artist moves in 2026 include Koryn Hawthorne signing with Motown Gospel, Jonathan Nelson inking a deal with Tyscot Worship, and Marvin Sapp partnering with Roc Nation for distribution of his 17th album, Restoration.
The coalition is also operating in an environment shaped by new challenges. Pastor Mike Jr. launched the "PMJ vs AI" campaign in February 2026, a social media movement calling out the rise of AI-generated music on gospel and Christian charts. The campaign sparked a wide conversation about authenticity and technology in sacred music.
On the awards front, Kierra Sheard received the BMI Impact Award in July, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard won Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album at the 57th NAACP Image Awards for her project TASHA.
Atlanta's inaugural "bamX, Black Music Week" in May 2026 also celebrated the global influence of Black music, with gospel artists featured prominently in the programming.
