Gospel legend John P. Kee is among the performers scheduled for the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, set for August 15, 2026, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Kirk Franklin hosts the ceremony. The broadcast is scheduled to air on BET on August 30, 2026.

Kee joins a lineup that includes Kierra Sheard, Jekalyn Carr, Le'Andria Johnson, Tye Tribbett, PJ Morton, Melvin Crispell III, Lisa Knowles-Smith and The Brown Singers, and Vincent Bohanan and SOV.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard receives the Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the ceremony. Pastor Mike Jr. receives the Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award.

Leading up to the event, ASCAP and Motown Gospel hosted a Stellar Awards Nominee Mixer on August 13, 2026, bringing together nominees and industry figures ahead of the main ceremony.

The Stellar Gospel Music Awards have recognized excellence in gospel music since 1985. The Charlotte ceremony marks the 41st edition of the annual event, which draws artists, industry professionals, and fans from across the country.

Kee, a Charlotte native, has been a fixture in gospel music for more than three decades. His nomination and performance slot at the hometown ceremony carries added significance for local fans and the broader gospel community.
