John P. Kee Headlines Tyscot Records 50th Anniversary Midnight Concert
Gospel legend John P. Kee headlined a midnight homecoming concert on July 23, 2026, in Indianapolis to celebrate Tyscot Records'' 50th anniversary. The event, held at the JW Marriott, also featured Tyscot alumni Ruth La''Ontra and Grammy-nominated songwriter Jason Clayborn. Tyscot, founded in 1976, is the oldest operating Black-owned gospel recording company in the United States.

Kee began his recording career with Tyscot in the 1980s. His appearance at the anniversary concert was seen as a homecoming for one of gospel music''s most recognized voices.
The concert was held in conjunction with the 111th International Summer Convention of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, which ran in Indianapolis from July 19 to 25, 2026.
Tyscot Records was founded in 1976 by Dr. Leonard Scott and his nephew, the late L. Craig Tyson. The label started from Dr. Scott''s dental practice to release the debut album of the Christ Apostolic Church Radio Choir. It has since grown into a major force in gospel music, launching the careers of artists including VaShawn Mitchell, Bri Babineaux, Deitrick Haddon, and Anthony Brown and group therAPy.
Earlier in 2026, Tyscot celebrated a Grammy Award win for Best Gospel Album for "Heart of Mine," a collaborative project by Darrel Walls and PJ Morton. The label''s 50th anniversary year has included multiple industry events and new artist signings.
