Keith and Kristyn Getty released "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" on July 4, 2026, the first single from their upcoming project, "The Sing! Hymnal Sessions." The track is a fresh recording of the 19th-century hymn, which has remained one of the most widely sung songs in Christian worship.

The Gettys are known for writing and recording hymns that blend traditional theology with accessible melodies. Their annual Sing! conference draws thousands of worship leaders and church musicians each year, and their catalog includes songs sung in congregations around the world.

"The Sing! Hymnal Sessions" is expected to feature a collection of classic hymns recorded in a style suited for congregational singing. The project follows the Gettys' long-standing mission to restore hymn singing in churches.

Rick Lee James also announced a new single, "Heaven Is Full of Criminals," featuring guitarist Phil Keaggy, set for release on July 24, 2026. James said the song explores themes of grace and redemption.

The summer of 2026 has seen a steady stream of new releases from Christian artists, with several major projects expected before the end of the year. The Getty release comes as churches continue to look for fresh recordings of familiar songs to use in Sunday worship.
