Koryn Hawthorne Signs with Motown Gospel, Plans Fall EP Produced by J. White Did It
GRAMMY-nominated artist Koryn Hawthorne signed with Motown Gospel on July 9, 2026, marking a new chapter in her career. Her first project under the label is an EP set for fall 2026, executive produced by J. White Did It. Hawthorne previewed the new era with a performance at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture.
Koryn Hawthorne signed with Motown Gospel on July 9, 2026, joining a label that operates as a division of Capitol Christian Music Group in partnership with Capitol Records and Universal Music Group.
Her first project under the deal is an EP scheduled for fall 2026. J. White Did It, a producer known for his work with Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Doechii, JT, and Yung Miami, is executive producing the project. The EP is expected to blend gospel and R&B while keeping Hawthorne's faith-centered message at the center.
Hawthorne previewed the new direction with a performance at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture, where she performed her RIAA Platinum-certified hit "Won't He Do It." She also announced a lead single titled "His Favorite," described as an anthem mixing gospel and R&B elements.
Brad O'Donnell, President of Capitol Christian Music Group, called Hawthorne "a compelling and distinctive voice with a clear vision." Walter Thomas, Executive Vice President of Motown Gospel and TAMLA Records, said her music is both personal and uplifting.
Hawthorne said the partnership fits where she is as an artist and aligns with her faith-based mission.
