LDS Church Previews Renovated Salt Lake Temple Rooms as Completion Nears
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints previewed finished rooms inside the Salt Lake Temple on May 8, as the long-running renovation project approaches its final stages.

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave a preview of several finished rooms inside the Salt Lake Temple on May 8, 2026, as the building's major renovation nears completion.
The temple, one of the most recognized landmarks in Salt Lake City, has been under renovation for several years. Church leaders shared images of the completed interior spaces, which reflect both the building's historic character and updated structural improvements.
The same week, Elder Dale G. Renlund dedicated the Davao Philippines Temple on May 3, and President Henry B. Eyring dedicated the Lindon Utah Temple on the same day. The church also announced open house and dedication dates for the Montpelier Idaho Temple.
In other church news, Elder W. Mark Bassett, a General Authority Seventy, passed away on May 11 at the age of 59. Church members around the world expressed condolences.
The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square announced guest artists for its "Songs of Hope Benefit Concert," scheduled for June 24-25 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The church also announced a change to Sunday meeting schedules starting in September. Relief Society and elders quorum meetings will occur weekly for 25 minutes after Sunday School classes. Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson said the meetings will focus on teachings of Jesus Christ and strengthen fellowship among members.
