The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held its 196th Annual General Conference on April 4-5, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the event coinciding with Easter weekend.

Members gathered and watched via broadcast to sustain President Dallin H. Oaks as the church's 18th prophet-president in a solemn assembly. President Henry B. Eyring was sustained as first counselor and President D. Todd Christofferson as second counselor in the First Presidency.

The conference also announced eight new General Authority Seventies and a new Primary General Presidency, which includes the first president from Africa.

Easter themes ran through many of the talks. President Oaks spoke about the Resurrection, calling it a core doctrine that provides strength and perspective in daily life. Elder Quentin L. Cook noted that Easter Sunday also marked 190 years since Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery received what the church describes as a vision in the Kirtland Temple in 1836.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband titled his remarks "He Is Risen," saying Christ's Resurrection and Atonement are central to church doctrine.

The conference also included practical announcements. Church leaders said the Sunday second-hour meeting schedule will be shortened to 25 minutes for adult and youth classes, with changes taking effect in September. Seminaries and Institutes of Religion worldwide reached a combined enrollment of over one million students, coinciding with the institute's 100th anniversary.

The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square announced a special broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" on April 19, 2026, expanding its reach across Africa.

All 34 talks from the conference are available on Gospel Library and ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
