Manus AI Raises Over 500 Million Dollars After Meta Acquisition Talks Collapse

AI startup Manus raised more than $500 million in new funding in October 2026, following the collapse of a proposed acquisition by Meta.

The fundraising round values Manus at a figure that has not been publicly disclosed, though sources familiar with the deal described it as a significant step up from the company's previous valuation.

Manus is known for its autonomous AI agent platform, which allows users to delegate complex, multi-step tasks to AI systems that can browse the web, write code, manage files, and interact with external services without constant human input. The company gained widespread attention earlier in 2026 when it released a public demo that showed its agent completing research and writing tasks that previously required hours of human work.

Meta had reportedly been in advanced talks to acquire Manus for several months before the deal fell apart. Neither company has commented publicly on the reasons for the breakdown.

With the new capital, Manus plans to expand its engineering team, scale its computing infrastructure, and accelerate development of its enterprise product. The company said it is also investing in safety research to address concerns about autonomous AI systems operating without sufficient human oversight.

The fundraising comes as the broader AI industry is seeing record levels of investment. Anthropic recently secured a $60 billion financing package to expand its compute capacity, and Amazon is exploring an $8 billion vehicle to offset Nvidia chip costs.

Manus competes with OpenAI's operator agents, Google's Project Mariner, and several other autonomous AI platforms that have launched or expanded in 2026.
