Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 smart glasses at Meta Connect 2026, featuring a 12-megapixel camera capable of 3K video recording, a six-microphone array, and deep integration with the company's Muse AI agent, according to reports from Mashable and iTechPost.

The Gen 3 glasses are thinner than their predecessors and offer up to nine hours of battery life. A customizable action button allows users to interact directly with Muse for hands-free assistance. The glasses start at $449.

Meta also introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, a camera-free version of the smart glasses designed for users who want AI assistance without a camera. The Audio model weighs approximately 43 grams and provides up to 12 hours of battery life, with a charging case that adds another 48 hours. It is priced at $349 and begins shipping October 13, 2026.

The Muse AI agent, integrated across both models, handles real-time navigation for cycling, walking, and public transit, as well as message management and general hands-free assistance.

Meta also announced a Hologram Calling feature that projects a lifelike full-body avatar during video calls through the Meta AI app. An FDA-approved hearing enhancement feature for users with mild to moderate hearing loss is also coming, available for a one-time fee of $149.99 or through a Meta One subscription.

Meta and EssilorLuxottica plan to offer more than 100 style combinations across their AI eyewear portfolio by the end of 2026. The company also previewed lightweight VR glasses weighing 100 grams, featuring a 5K micro-OLED display, set to launch in spring 2027 for $1,299.

Norway announced it is considering a ban on camera-equipped smart glasses, citing privacy risks in public spaces.
