Former Vice President Mike Pence has been appointed as a visiting faculty member at Colorado Christian University for the 2026-2027 academic year, the university announced in August.
Pence will travel to the university's Lakewood, Colorado campus once a month to lead lectures, facilitate classroom discussions, and engage with students on topics including constitutional government, public policy, and leadership.
The appointment follows his participation in an online summer course at the university, where he collaborated with faculty to instruct students on the history and principles of American conservatism, drawing from his book "What Conservatives Believe: Rediscovering the Conservative Conscience."
His curriculum is expected to cover free trade, tariffs, socialism, abortion, Israel relations, and the legacy of Donald Trump. CCU President Eric Hogue said the partnership aligns with the university's mission to promote faith, character, and constitutional government.
Pence has previously taught at Grove City College and George Mason University. He has spoken at CCU before, including at the Western Conservative Summit, where he has warned against populism.
University leadership acknowledged the appointment may be polarizing given Pence's break from Donald Trump following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Hogue said he hopes Pence's presence will foster civil discourse and encourage dialogue across differing political perspectives.
