The National Black Church Initiative released its annual list of the 25 Most Effective Christian Biblical Preachers for 2025-2026, recognizing clergy who have demonstrated strong biblical teaching and community impact across the country.
The NBCI, which represents a coalition of 150,000 churches and 27.7 million members, uses the list to highlight preaching that is grounded in Scripture and connected to the practical needs of Black communities. The organization has published the list annually as part of its broader effort to strengthen Black church leadership.
The NBCI has been active on multiple fronts in 2026. The organization launched the Beautiful Black Babies campaign to address the Black maternal health crisis, introduced an African American Parkinson's Patient Advocacy Organization, and promoted a new curriculum for Sunday school teachers.
The coalition also set a June 15, 2026, deadline for member churches to renew their affiliations, part of an ongoing effort to maintain the size and cohesion of its network.
The NBCI has long positioned itself as a bridge between Black congregations and public health institutions. In recent years, the organization has pushed for greater Black participation in clinical trials, arguing that racial health disparities cannot be closed without more representative research data.
The preacher list is one of the NBCI's most visible annual publications, drawing attention to voices that might otherwise remain regional. The 2025-2026 edition continues that tradition, spotlighting clergy from across the country.
