Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark Superchip to Compete in the AI PC Market

Nvidia unveiled the RTX Spark Superchip at Computex, a chip that combines Blackwell RTX graphics with Grace CPU technology and is designed to bring AI workloads from the cloud to local personal devices.

The chip will appear in laptops and mini-PCs from Microsoft, Dell, and HP. Nvidia says the move puts its silicon directly into the AI PC market, where it will compete against Apple, Intel, and Qualcomm.

The announcement is part of a broader strategic push by Nvidia into physical AI. The company also announced a multi-region humanoid robot platform that integrates its Blackwell chips and cybersecurity features with hardware from manufacturers in the U.S., Europe, South Korea, and China.

Separately, Intel is preparing to launch "Crescent Island," a data center chip optimized for inference tasks. The chip uses lower-cost memory and air cooling to compete with Nvidia's high-end accelerators at a lower price point.

The U.S. Commerce Department has also issued new guidance to prevent advanced Nvidia AI chips from reaching Chinese companies through overseas subsidiaries, closing loopholes that had allowed exports via operations in countries like Malaysia.

Apple is expected to respond at its WWDC 2026 developer conference, which begins June 8. New design elements, including a "Liquid Glass" interface and potential Siri upgrades, are expected alongside updates to the company's operating systems.
