OpenAI Launches GPT-6 With Intelligent UI, Letting ChatGPT Generate Interactive Tools

OpenAI launched GPT-6 on October 7, 2026, introducing a new interface feature called Intelligent UI that allows ChatGPT to generate interactive tools directly within conversations.
Instead of returning only text, ChatGPT can now produce tappable buttons, diagrams, calculators, bill splitters, games, and editable charts as part of its responses. The system automatically selects the most appropriate format based on the user's request.
GPT-6 is designed to begin rendering responses while it continues processing information in the background. This reduces the time users wait before they can start reading or interacting with a response.
The rollout began for paid subscribers on October 7, including Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users. Free and Go tier users gained access starting October 8. Enterprise access is subject to workspace administrator settings.
OpenAI is using two model variants for the launch. GPT-6 Sol powers paid plans, while GPT-6 Luna handles free and Go tier users. The Intelligent UI feature is available across reasoning levels from "Instant" through "Extra High" but is not supported when using the "Pro" reasoning option, which continues to use the GPT-6 Astra model.
The launch comes as competition in the AI industry intensifies. Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on the same day, cutting prices by up to 90 percent for high-volume tasks. Microsoft also announced new Surface hardware designed to run advanced AI models locally.
OpenAI said the Intelligent UI feature is the first step toward making ChatGPT a more dynamic workspace rather than a simple question-and-answer tool. The company has not announced a timeline for additional interactive features.
