OpenAI launched GPT-6 on October 7, 2026, alongside a new feature called Intelligent UI that lets ChatGPT generate interactive tools directly inside conversations.

Instead of returning only text, ChatGPT can now produce charts, tappable buttons, forms, calculators, games, and maps, depending on what the user asks for. The system uses a library of streamable components and a specialized compiler to render these elements as they are generated.

The rollout was tiered by subscription level. GPT-6 Sol launched October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. GPT-6 Luna launched October 8 for Free and Go tier users. The models powering ChatGPT Work and Codex were not changed in this release.

A key performance improvement is the model's ability to begin outputting partial responses while it is still processing. OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant is about 44 percent faster at starting responses for web-search-based queries compared to GPT-5.6 Instant.

OpenAI's system card for GPT-6 notes strengthened safety training, particularly in resisting multi-turn jailbreak attacks and high-risk misuse such as cyberattacks or biological threats.

The launch comes as the AI industry shifts from a software-driven race to a capital-intensive competition over physical infrastructure. Wall Street has initiated a record $60 billion financing package involving Broadcom and Anthropic to fund AI compute expansion. Google signed a 3.59-gigawatt power deal with Constellation Energy to support its data centers, incorporating nuclear power.
