PAW Names Bishop Richard D. Howell Jr. as New Presiding Prelate
The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World elected Bishop Richard D. Howell Jr., longtime pastor of Shiloh Temple International Ministries in Minneapolis, as its new Presiding Prelate in summer 2026. His executive team includes Bishops A. Glenn Brady, C. Shawn Tyson, Harold E. Rayford, and Eric B. Morris. The PAW is one of the oldest and largest Oneness Pentecostal denominations in the United States.

Howell is the longtime pastor of Shiloh Temple International Ministries in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His new executive team includes Bishops A. Glenn Brady, C. Shawn Tyson, Harold E. Rayford, and Eric B. Morris.
The PAW is one of the oldest and largest Oneness Pentecostal denominations in the United States, with a significant presence in the African American Christian community.
The leadership transition is part of a broader period of structural change across major Black Church denominations in 2026. The Church of God in Christ, under Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard, held its International AIM Convention in Baltimore in July and announced the appointment of Dr. Herbert Reynolds Davis as the new president of All Saints Bible College in Memphis.
The National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc., recently established a new Center for Social Justice in Washington, D.C., positioned near the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court. The center is designed to serve as a hub for advocacy, voter engagement, and policy research.
