Women in the Northampton England Stake celebrated the 184th anniversary of the Relief Society with a day of devotion and service on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
The women gathered at the stake center for a fellowshiping breakfast and viewed the broadcast of the Relief Society worldwide devotional together. The women reported feeling spiritually touched by the talks.
Service projects followed in the cultural hall from each ward Relief Society in the stake, who had worked with local charities throughout the year. Helen Freeman, stake Relief Society president, emphasized the organization's mission to "relieve suffering and save souls." She noted that the projects fostered unity and spiritual growth among members.
Projects included donations to Baby Basics Northampton (infant clothing, toiletries, and bedding for mothers in need), handmade blankets for Sands (for grieving parents of stillborn babies), letters and cards for Hinchingbrooke Hospital patients without family, knitted hearts for Milton Keynes Hospital neonatal units, hygienic items for Girl Pack (for menstruating girls in need), "Fiddlemuffs" (sensory items for dementia patients) for Northampton General Hospital, Easter egg donations for Love in a Bag care packages, and additional food and goods for the Northampton Ukraine Association.
Louise King, Northampton Ward Relief Society president, highlighted collaboration between experienced and newer members, including youth engagement. Sharon Adcock of the Kettering Ward emphasized the joy of communal service for the Northamptonshire community.
Relief Society's global initiative, "Caring for Women and Children," focuses on maternal and child nutrition, healthcare, and education. General President Camille N. Johnson stated, "Whenever we do anything to bring relief to others...we are bringing them the love of Jesus Christ."
The stake center and Kettering Ward have served as donation hubs for Baby Basics Northampton for 3.5 years, distributing weekly items to mothers including refugees. Projects will continue throughout the year to ensure ongoing community support.
