Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 8 at London Unpacked Event

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. The Fold 8 starts at $1,900 and goes on sale August 5, running Android 17 with deep AI integration.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. Pre-orders opened immediately, with retail availability starting August 5.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main inner display, both using LTPO OLED panels with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

The camera system includes a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultrawide sensor on the rear, with a 10MP front-facing camera. The battery capacity is 4,800mAh with support for 45W wired and 20W wireless charging. The device carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Fold 8 launched with Android 17 and One UI 9. Samsung highlighted several AI features, including "My FanCam" for automated video reframing and "Now Nudge" for intelligent multitasking suggestions. The device also includes Gemini Notebook for document and audio summarization. Samsung committed to seven years of software updates.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,900 in the United States and 2,000 euros in European markets for the 256GB model. The redesigned hinge mechanism reduces crease visibility, and the frame uses Advanced Armor Aluminum.

The launch comes as Samsung faces competition from other foldable phone makers and as the broader smartphone market contends with a shortage of high-bandwidth memory that is pushing up component prices.
