Thousands of people gathered at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater in Oceanside, California on October 17, 2026, for Movement San Diego 2026, a free evangelistic event featuring live worship, prayer, and mass baptisms in the Pacific Ocean.

The event ran from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and was organized by Mike Doyle, pastor of Movement Church in New York City, in partnership with the Baptize The World organization. Live worship was provided by Circuit Rider Music and Upper Room.

Participants waded into the ocean for public baptisms as part of a broader movement of open-air faith gatherings that has grown significantly in California over the past several years.

The Baptize The World organization, founded by Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church in Irvine, California, has tracked substantial growth in these events. In 2023, more than 4,000 people were baptized at Pirate's Cove. By 2025, over 28,000 baptisms took place in a single synchronized effort involving more than 600 churches. Earlier in 2026, the organization reported 19,010 baptisms across 49 nations on Pentecost Sunday.

As of October 2026, Baptize The World has recorded a total of 71,002 baptisms in partnership with over 1,600 churches across 49 nations over a 36-month period.

The organization has scheduled its next worldwide synchronized mass baptism event for Pentecost Sunday, May 16, 2027.
