Trey Daniel's 'For My Good' Featuring Chrystal Rucker Named Gospel Pick of the Week

Gospel music historian Bob Marovich named "For My Good" by Trey Daniel, featuring Chrystal Rucker, as his Journal of Gospel Music Pick of the Week for October 26, 2026.

Marovich highlighted the song's strong melody and call-and-response structure, calling out Rucker's vocal performance as a particular strength. He noted that the song carries a message of trust in God's plan even through difficult circumstances.

Chrystal Rucker is a Kansas City native and member of the Church of God in Christ. She has collaborated with several prominent gospel artists over the years, including Walter Hawkins and Ricky Dillard. Her voice has been a consistent presence in traditional gospel circles.

Trey Daniel has been building a following in the contemporary gospel space with songs that blend traditional gospel themes with modern production. "For My Good" continues that approach, pairing an accessible sound with lyrics rooted in scripture.

The Journal of Gospel Music has been a key resource for tracking developments in gospel music for decades. Marovich's weekly picks often spotlight artists who are gaining traction in the genre before they reach wider audiences.
