TSMC Posts 54.6 Percent Revenue Surge in September as AI Chip Demand Breaks Records
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported September 2026 revenue of NT$511.86 billion, a 54.6 percent increase year-over-year and the second-highest monthly total in the company's history. Third-quarter revenue set a new all-time quarterly record at NT$1.49 trillion.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported September 2026 revenue of NT$511.86 billion, roughly US$16 billion, a 54.6 percent increase compared to September 2025.
The figure was a marginal 0.6 percent decline from August 2026 but still marked the second-highest monthly revenue in the company's history and exceeded market expectations.
Third-quarter revenue reached NT$1.49 trillion, approximately US$46.8 billion, setting a new all-time quarterly record for TSMC. The result surpassed both the company's own guidance and consensus estimates from analysts.
For the first nine months of 2026, cumulative revenue totaled NT$3,898.73 billion, a 41.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The surge is driven by aggressive demand for advanced chip technologies required for artificial intelligence applications and 2-nanometer process nodes. Key customers including Nvidia, Apple, and AMD continue to drive demand that consistently outstrips existing supply.
Market analysts have responded by raising their capital expenditure expectations for TSMC. Projections suggest the company may increase annual CapEx to as much as US$85 billion in 2027 and nearly US$100 billion by 2028 as it expands capacity globally, including potential new manufacturing facilities in Texas.
GlobalFoundries also signed a five-year deal this month to manufacture silicon interposers for TSMC in New York, aimed at alleviating chip packaging bottlenecks. TSMC is scheduled to provide further details on its business outlook during its upcoming earnings conference.
