Tyscot Records Plans July 23 Homecoming Concert in Indianapolis for 50th Anniversary
Tyscot Records, the oldest African American-owned gospel label in the world, is hosting a homecoming concert in Indianapolis on July 23, 2026. The event marks the label's 50th year in business.

Tyscot Records is bringing its 50th anniversary celebration home to Indianapolis with a homecoming concert scheduled for July 23, 2026.
The label, founded in 1976, is the oldest continuously operating African American-owned gospel record label in the world. The Indianapolis concert will feature artists from the Tyscot roster and is expected to draw fans from across the country.
The anniversary year has already been eventful for the label. Tyscot kicked off 2026 with a Grammy Award win for Best Gospel Album for "Heart of Mine," a collaborative project by Darrel Walls and PJ Morton through a joint venture with Gumbo Studios.
The label also secured 19 nominations at the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, which will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 15, 2026. John P. Kee's "Throwback: An Evening with John P. Kee, Vol. 1" and "Heart of Mine" each received seven nominations.
Earlier this year, Tyscot expanded its roster by signing praise and worship leader Jonathan Nelson to its Tyscot Worship imprint. Nelson is known for his work in contemporary gospel and has a strong following in church communities nationwide.
"Fifty years is a milestone that very few independent labels reach," said a label spokesperson. "We are grateful to the artists, the churches, and the fans who have supported us."
Tickets for the July 23 homecoming concert are available through the label's official website. The event is open to the public.
