Milan-based Webidoo secured $25 million in funding to expand into North America, aiming to provide an AI operating layer that helps small and medium businesses access AI tools.

The company targets businesses that lack the technical resources to build their own AI systems. Webidoo's platform integrates with existing business software and adds AI-powered features for marketing, customer service, and operations.

Small and medium businesses have struggled to adopt AI at the same pace as large corporations. The cost and complexity of building custom AI systems puts them at a disadvantage. Webidoo aims to close that gap with a subscription-based service.

The $25 million round was led by European venture capital firms with participation from North American investors. Webidoo plans to use the capital to hire engineers and sales staff in the United States and Canada.

The company has already deployed its platform to more than 10,000 businesses in Europe. Customers include retailers, restaurants, and professional services firms.

AI adoption among small businesses has accelerated in 2025 and 2026. Tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini have made AI more accessible, but many small business owners still struggle to integrate these tools into their workflows.

Webidoo's CEO said the North American market is larger and more competitive than Europe, but the need is just as great. He said the company's goal is to make AI as easy to use as a smartphone app.

The expansion is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, starting with major U.S. cities.
