The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple in Springfield, Oregon, on June 7, 2026, with Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, presiding over the dedicatory session.
The dedication occurred simultaneously with the Yorba Linda California Temple, marking the first time in church history that two temples were dedicated at the same time in the same time zone. The dedicatory session began at 10:00 a.m. and was broadcast to all units within the temple district, with a rebroadcast scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is the third temple of the church in Oregon, joining those in Portland and Medford. The structure is approximately 30,635 square feet and sits on a 10.29-acre site in Springfield. Gregory Lee Stevens and Christina Lynne Stevens have been called to serve as the temple's first president and matron.
The temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 4, 2021, and the groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 29, 2022. A public open house was held from April 23 through May 9, 2026, drawing thousands of visitors from the surrounding community.
Temple dedications are significant events in the Latter-day Saint faith. Temples are considered the most sacred spaces in the church and are used for ordinances including baptisms for the dead, endowments, and sealings. Unlike meetinghouses, temples are open only to members of the church who hold a current temple recommend.
The simultaneous dedication of two temples reflects the church's accelerating pace of temple construction under President Nelson, who has announced more than 100 new temples since taking office in 2018. The church currently has more than 350 temples operating, under construction, or announced worldwide.
