A coalition of Christian organizations is using the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a platform for evangelism. The campaign aims to equip 100,000 Christians to host friends and neighbors for watch parties and to mobilize 10,000 churches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The effort is led by Cru, one of the largest evangelical campus ministries in the world, along with several partner organizations. Organizers say the World Cup draws an estimated 5 billion viewers globally, making it one of the largest single opportunities for faith outreach in recent memory.

"This is a moment where the whole world is watching," said one campaign organizer. "We want believers to use that shared cultural moment to start real conversations about faith."

The campaign provides churches and individuals with resources including conversation guides, hospitality kits, and training materials. Participants are encouraged to invite neighbors, coworkers, and friends to watch games together and to share their faith naturally in those settings.

The 2026 World Cup is being hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament runs from June through July 2026.

Metro Voice News reported that early outreach events in Kansas City, one of the host cities, have already drawn interest from dozens of local congregations. Pastors in the area say the tournament gives churches a reason to open their doors to people who might not otherwise attend.

The campaign is part of a broader trend of faith organizations using major sporting events for outreach. Similar efforts were organized around previous World Cups in Brazil and Russia.
