AI Financial Planning Tools Reshape Wealth Management as Advisors Adopt Agentic Technology
Wealth management firms are rapidly adopting AI tools that go beyond meeting transcription to handle financial planning, compliance, and client relationship management. New research shows that independent advisors using AI are growing their headcount faster than those who do not.
Wealth management firms are moving quickly to adopt AI tools that handle more than note-taking. Platforms like RightCapital, Salesforce, and Altruist are embedding AI into financial planning, compliance, and client relationship management, a shift industry observers are calling the "agentic" phase of wealthtech.
New research from Astraeus found that independent registered investment advisors who disclose meaningful AI use are growing their headcount faster than those who do not. The data suggests firms are using AI to expand capacity rather than cut staff.
Major players are backing the trend with significant capital. Envestnet committed $1 billion over five years to research and development, including a $35 million surge investment in its Tamarac platform. Aquiline entered an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the wealthtech platform Flourish.
New AI advisory tools are also reaching individual consumers. Evergreen.ai launched a platform designed to provide personalized financial guidance on taxes, mortgages, and credit. ProCap Financial reported that its AI agent "Silvia" is performing at levels that match or exceed frontier models on personal finance topics.
The broader economic backdrop is shaping investor behavior. The U.S. national debt crossed $40 trillion in August 2026, and government interest payments reached $931 billion in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2026, an 11 percent increase over the prior year. Economists say heavy government borrowing is keeping upward pressure on interest rates for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards.
