Anthropic disclosed $16.8 billion in third-quarter 2026 revenue to prospective investors in mid-October, as the AI company prepares for an initial public offering widely expected in November.

The figure represents a sharp increase from $11.6 billion in the second quarter and $4.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026. Investors anticipate that Anthropic will reach an annualized revenue of $110 billion by the end of the year.

The company said it was profitable on an adjusted basis during the third quarter and cash-flow positive, generating $1.70 in revenue for every dollar spent on computing power. The disclosures were made during a meeting with prospective investors as the company moves toward its public debut.

Anthropic filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 1, 2026. Some market projections suggest a potential valuation of up to $2 trillion at the time of the IPO.

The revenue growth reflects strong demand for Anthropic's Claude AI models across enterprise customers. The company has signed major cloud and infrastructure deals throughout 2026, including agreements with Amazon, which has committed over $33 billion to Anthropic, and Broadcom, which agreed to lend the company up to $42 billion for AI compute expansion.

The IPO would be one of the largest technology offerings in recent years. Anthropic competes directly with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta AI in the large language model market.

The company has also faced regulatory scrutiny. The Federal Trade Commission opened an investigation into Anthropic and OpenAI in October 2026 over consumer protection, privacy, and safety practices. Eight U.S. states have filed a coordinated lawsuit against OpenAI, though Anthropic is not named in that action.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has previously called on AI labs to coordinate safety measures as models become more capable.
