ASCAP and Motown Gospel Celebrate 2026 Stellar Awards Nominees at Mixer Event

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) joined Motown Gospel to celebrate the nominees of the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards at a mixer event held August 13.

The event brought together gospel music artists, industry professionals, and label representatives ahead of the awards ceremony. The 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards aired on BET on August 30, with Kirk Franklin serving as host.

ASCAP's partnership with Motown Gospel for the event reflects the growing collaboration between performing rights organizations and gospel labels. Motown Gospel has been active in 2026, signing Grammy-nominated artist Koryn Hawthorne to its roster in July.

The Stellar Awards are among the most prestigious honors in gospel music, recognizing artists across categories including traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, and urban inspirational. The awards have been a fixture in the Black church community for more than four decades.

The 2026 gospel music season has seen significant industry activity. Kierra Sheard received the BMI Impact Award at the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards in July. Earnest Pugh was also honored at the same ceremony. Marvin Sapp announced a partnership with Roc Nation for his 17th album, "Restoration."

The Gospel Industry Coalition has continued its push to unify the gospel music sector, encouraging labels and artists to work together rather than in separate silos.
