The Black Health Matters Foundation (BHMF) has launched 'Our Health Our Wellness' (OHOW), a full national campaign designed to improve health outcomes and empower individuals in underserved communities throughout April 2026. The month-long initiative addresses a wide range of priority health areas that disproportionately affect Americans in under-resourced communities, including Alzheimer's disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, heart health, mental health, and vaccinations. The campaign kicked off with a launch booth at the American Cardiology Conference in New Orleans, followed by a health fair at the Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat in Houston, Texas, focusing on cardiology, oncology, and mental health. Mobile mammography services were also provided at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of the campaign's breast cancer prevention efforts. Throughout April, OHOW is hosting a series of webinars covering topics such as the importance of vaccines in lifelong wellness, the power of prevention through daily habits, living with cancer, and the future of cancer treatment. The campaign provides health information in both English and Spanish to expand access and literacy among diverse populations. BHMF leaders emphasized that health disparities in underserved communities are not inevitable and that prevention, early detection, and access to resources can make a profound difference. The OHOW campaign represents a complete approach to wellness that recognizes the interconnected nature of physical, mental, and social health. Community organizations, healthcare providers, and faith institutions are encouraged to partner with BHMF to amplify the campaign's reach and impact.
