The Black Health Matters Foundation (BHMF) has officially launched its national 'Our Health Our Wellness' (OHOW) campaign for April 2026, a full month-long health observance designed to improve health outcomes and empower under-resourced communities through prevention, intervention, and increased access to resources.

The campaign was introduced at the American Cardiology Conference (ACC.26) in New Orleans on March 28-30, where Black Health Matters used the platform to engage healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical stakeholders. OHOW promotes healthy behavior change to improve health outcomes for under-resourced communities across the U.S., with health information available in both English and Spanish.

Throughout April 2026, OHOW is focusing on priority health areas with significant impact on Americans, including Alzheimer's disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, heart health (encompassing cholesterol, diabetes, and hypertension), mental health, and vaccinations. The initiative aims to address health disparities through prevention, early detection, and intervention in medically underserved communities.

Roslyn Y. Daniels, CEO and Founder of Black Health Matters, stated: 'Being healthy and having access to proper services for wellness are essential as we age. I want OHOW to be a movement where people can learn about what's impacting them and their families. Then know how to speak with their doctor and have guidance on the next steps.'

Upcoming OHOW events include a Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat Health Fair in Houston on April 2, a mobile mammography event at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Phoenix, and a series of webinars covering vaccines, cancer prevention, and the future of cancer treatment. The campaign is part of BHMF's broader mission to create significant health impact by closing gaps in outcomes for communities facing healthcare barriers.
