ChatGPT Health Lets Users Connect Medical Records for Personalized Guidance

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health in January 2026, giving U.S. users a secure space to connect medical records and wellness app data for personalized health guidance. The tool integrates with Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and lab services, and operates in an isolated environment where conversations are not used to train AI models. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health in January 2026, creating a dedicated space within the ChatGPT platform where U.S. users can connect their medical records and wellness data for personalized health guidance.

The tool allows users to link medical records through a partnership with b.well and connect data from wellness apps including Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Weight Watchers, the lab testing service Function, AllTrails, Instacart, and Peloton. Users can ask the AI to summarize lab results, prepare questions for doctor appointments, or offer diet and exercise guidance based on their personal data.

OpenAI built several privacy safeguards into the product. ChatGPT Health operates in an isolated environment with separate memory and storage from other ChatGPT interactions. Conversations and files within the space are encrypted and are not used to train OpenAI's foundation models.

The service is available to U.S. users aged 18 and older on web and iOS platforms. It is not available in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or the European Economic Area due to regional data protection regulations.

The tool was developed with input from more than 260 physicians across 60 countries. OpenAI says the service is intended to support, not replace, professional medical care and is not designed for diagnosis or treatment.

OpenAI reported that hundreds of millions of users seek health and wellness information through its services weekly, which drove the decision to build a dedicated health experience. The company also launched OpenAI for Healthcare, an enterprise suite for hospitals and healthcare administrators, on January 8, 2026.

Early enterprise partners include Boston Children's Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Stanford Medicine Children's Health, and UCSF.
