Fifth Third Bank and Trust & Will received the "Best Fintech Partnership" award at the 2026 Finovate Awards on September 24, 2026. The recognition makes Fifth Third the only large U.S. bank to receive a Finovate Award this year.
The partnership launched in 2025 and gives all Fifth Third customers access to free, attorney-approved wills. The program was designed to remove the cost barriers that keep many Americans from creating estate plans.
In its first year, tens of thousands of customers used the service to create estate plans. The program protected more than $10 billion in estate value and introduced estate planning to thousands of first-time users.
Erin Crawford, VP and head of Consumer Digital, Payments and Money Management at Fifth Third, said the bank's fintech strategy is built to bring solutions to market quickly. She noted that financial wellness extends beyond standard banking services.
Trust & Will is a digital estate planning platform that offers wills, trusts, and guardianship documents. The company uses attorney-approved templates and a cloud-native platform to make estate planning accessible online.
The Finovate Awards are determined by a panel of industry experts across more than 30 categories. The Best Fintech Partnership category recognizes collaborations that deliver measurable value to consumers.
The partnership reflects a broader trend of banks working with fintech companies to offer services that address financial preparedness gaps, particularly around estate planning, which surveys show most Americans have not completed.
