Kierra Sheard Wins BMI Impact Award at 2026 Gospel Music Ceremony in Nashville

Gospel artist Kierra Sheard received the BMI Impact Award at the 2026 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards on July 21 in Nashville. She also shared the Gospel Songwriter of the Year title with her brother J Drew Sheard II and songwriter Kerry Douglas, marking the second time the siblings have won the honor.

Gospel artist Kierra Sheard was honored with the BMI Impact Award at the 2026 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards, held July 21 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The private ceremony at BMI''s Nashville office recognized Sheard for her career achievements and her influence on the next generation of gospel music. She also shared the BMI Gospel Songwriter of the Year title in a three-way tie with her brother, J Drew Sheard II, and songwriter Kerry Douglas.

The siblings were recognized for co-writing the songs "All Yours," "RAIN DOWN ON ME," and "Send It Down." It was the second time Kierra and J Drew Sheard II have received the Songwriter of the Year honor, having previously won in 2022.

The ceremony included musical tributes to Kierra Sheard, with performances by Darrel Walls, DOE, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard. Karen Clark Sheard and Tamela Mann also participated in the tribute segment.

Other awards presented at the ceremony included the BMI Gospel Song of the Year, which went to "Lead Me On," co-written by Jonathan Jay, Chandler Moore, and Jeff Pardo. Capitol CMG Publishing was named BMI Gospel Publisher of the Year.

The event was hosted by BMI CEO Mike O''Neill, Executive Vice President Mike Steinberg, and Vice President of Creative Catherine Brewton.

Kierra Sheard is the daughter of Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters and Bishop J. Drew Sheard, presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ. She has released multiple albums and is known for blending gospel with R&B and pop influences.
