Koryn Hawthorne Signs to Motown Gospel
Grammy-nominated artist Koryn Hawthorne has signed with Motown Gospel, a division of Capitol Christian Music Group and Universal Music Group. The Louisiana native, known for her Platinum-certified hit 'Won't He Do It,' will release a new EP this fall produced by J. White Did It. She announced the signing after performing at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture.
Grammy-nominated gospel artist Koryn Hawthorne has signed with Motown Gospel, the label announced on July 9, 2026.
Hawthorne, a Louisiana native who first gained national attention as a finalist on The Voice, is known for her RIAA Platinum-certified hit "Won't He Do It." Her new deal is with Motown Gospel, a division of Capitol Christian Music Group, Capitol Records, and Universal Music Group.
As part of the partnership, Hawthorne will release a new EP this fall. The project is executive produced by J. White Did It, a producer known for his work with Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and Doechii. The EP will introduce a new single titled "His Favorite," described as an uplifting anthem blending gospel and R&B.
Hawthorne announced the signing after performing "Won't He Do It" at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture.
Brad O'Donnell, president of Capitol Christian Music Group, said Hawthorne's vision and connection to her fans made her an ideal fit for the label. Walter Thomas, executive vice president of Motown Gospel and TAMLA Records, called her "an incredibly gifted artist with a clear, grounded message."
Hawthorne said the move aligns with her growth as an artist, a woman, and a person of faith.
The signing is part of a busy year for gospel music label deals. Aaron Lavelle signed with TRIBL Records in March after more than a decade of independent work. Jonathan Nelson signed with Tyscot Worship in January. Stephen Hurd joined the Tehillah Music Group roster in May.
