The National Black Church Initiative launched two major health programs in April 2026, targeting Parkinson's disease awareness and vaccine education across its network of 150,000 African American churches.

The African American Parkinson's Patient's Advocacy Organization, known as AAPPAO, launched on April 9, 2026. The NBCI had already introduced educational Parkinson's Disease initiatives in Houston and St. Louis earlier in the year, and the new organization is designed to give patients a dedicated advocacy voice.

On April 19, the NBCI launched its "Vaccines are Good for America" social media campaign across its platforms, urging members to stay current on immunization schedules. The campaign is part of the coalition's broader effort to reduce racial health disparities through education and community outreach.

The NBCI, which represents 27.7 million members, also released a proposal for the Black Beautiful Babies Campaign to address the nation's Black maternal health crisis. Black women in the United States die from pregnancy-related causes at rates significantly higher than white women, a disparity that has persisted despite broader advances in maternal care.

The coalition is also working with the American Clinical Health Disparities Commission to increase African American and Latino participation in clinical trials, which have historically underrepresented these communities.

On April 20, the NBCI launched its "Keep Your Wife on Your Team" YouTube series, featuring marriage videos aimed at strengthening Black families. A Parkinson's Brain Health social media campaign followed on April 25.

The NBCI also announced its Book of the Year for 2025-2026, focusing on Haiti's King Henry Christophe, and named its list of the 25 Most Effective Christian Biblical Preachers in the Black Preaching Tradition for 2025-2026.
