Word In Black, a national media brand focused on Black communities, is hosting a virtual event on May 21, 2026, titled "Let's Talk Religion Hot Topics."

The event will feature Rev. Dorothy Boulware, Word In Black's religion and social justice reporter, in conversation with church leaders. The discussion will cover several topics that have generated significant attention in Black religious circles in recent months.

Among the subjects on the agenda is the viral video featuring comedian Druski and a megachurch, which sparked widespread debate online about celebrity, faith, and the culture of large congregations. The event will also examine the rapid growth of the 2819 Church in Atlanta, which has attracted thousands of young Black worshippers in a short period.

Panelists will also discuss new preaching styles gaining traction in Black churches, including the incorporation of spoken word poetry into sermons.

"These are conversations happening in pews, in group chats, and on social media," Boulware said in a statement. "We want to bring them into a more structured space where church leaders and community members can engage honestly."

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is available through the Word In Black website.

Word In Black is a collaborative of 10 Black-owned news outlets that covers issues affecting Black communities across the United States. The organization launched in 2021 and has grown its audience significantly through coverage of faith, health, politics, and culture.
