World Heart Federation Launches Don't Miss a Beat Campaign Ahead of September 29 World Heart Day
The World Heart Federation launched its 2026 "Don't Miss a Beat" campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease ahead of World Heart Day on September 29. The campaign focuses on recognizing hidden symptoms, promoting preventive lifestyle changes, and pushing governments to adopt national heart health plans.
The World Heart Federation launched its 2026 "Don't Miss a Beat" campaign to draw attention to cardiovascular disease, which claims more than 20 million lives annually. World Heart Day falls on September 29, 2026.
The campaign is built around three pillars. The first, "See the Signs," encourages people to recognize subtle or silent warning signs of heart disease. The federation introduced an "Are You Heart Smart?" quiz on its website and app to help the public identify risk factors and common myths.
The second pillar, "Protect Your Heart," emphasizes that 80 percent of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke are preventable through lifestyle changes. The campaign promotes the "Keep the Beat" challenge, which asks participants to pledge and track physical activities such as walking, yoga, or cycling throughout September.
The third pillar, "Demand Action," calls on governments to develop standalone national plans to combat cardiovascular disease. The federation notes that fewer than 20 countries currently have such plans in place.
New for 2026 is the "Heart Health Champions" initiative, which recognizes individuals and organizations using social media to spread awareness. The federation also hosted a "Football For Healthier Hearts" match between Servette FC and Olympique Lyonnais at the Stade de Geneve on September 23.
Global sponsors for the 2026 campaign include Amgen, Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Standard Foods China. Campaign materials are available in eight languages. Supporters are encouraged to share their commitments using the hashtag #DontMissABeat.
